About SABIS®

SABIS® is a global education management organisation with over 125 years of success in delivering Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12 education. The organisation grew out of two visionaries’ shared passion for education who together conceived the SABIS® educational philosophy in 1886.  Established in the 19th century and designed to adapt to a changing world, this educational philosophy has driven the organisation in its efforts to transform the quality of education worldwide for more than a century.

SABIS® History

The story of SABIS® dates back to 1886 when the International School of Choueifat was founded in the village of Choueifat, a suburb of Beirut, Lebanon.  There, the founders Reverend Tanios Saad and Ms Louisa Proctor brought together their vision, dedication, and ambition to provide basic education for Lebanese girls.  Soon thereafter, the school became co-educational in response to market demand.

Today, as it celebrates over 125 years of providing high-quality education, SABIS® educates tens of thousands of students in 15 countries on four continents, including North America, Africa, Asia, and Europe.  Its global network of preschool / K-12 schools and a university is an impressive testament to SABIS®’s mission to change the world through education.

The growing SABIS® School Network encompasses private member schools, public-private partnership schools (PPP) including U.S. charter schools, and schools which license the SABIS® Educational System.  These schools attract students of different nationalities and provide a world-class educational experience.

Philosophy

The SABIS® philosophy centres on the firm belief that a university education is academically accessible to almost all students, not only a select few.  SABIS® believes that the success of an educational institution should be measured by the value that it adds to each student.
